Singapore’s In Good Company–offering updated
wardrobe classics–arrives in Manila.
If you’ve been to SM Makati lately, you would have noticed its foray into offering more covetable brands and improving the overall shopping experience. Enter its latest import from Singapore that gives us yet another reason to pop in. In Good Company (IGC) is the new womenswear label to check out for designer details and premium quality at a fraction of the cost.
Established in 2012 and originally sold through retailers like TANGS in Singapore, In Good Company opened its first flagship store at ION Orchard in August 2015. In only two years driven by a loyal following, it has expanded to Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok, and finally—Manila.
Much of its interesting name can be attributed to the history of the brand (apart from its cool collaborations with other creative movers and shakers). In Good Company was created by Sven Tan, Kane Tan, Jaclyn Teo and Julene Aw—friends-turned-founders who believed in offering clothes “that serve as a foundation for a long-lasting wardrobe transcending fashion trends and seasons.”
And their unique aesthetic is evident in each collection. The brand takes on a modern approach to updating wardrobe classics: innovative silhouettes with details that stand out, from geometric cuts and unique fabric combinations to expert pattern construction.
We particularly love the contrast between the fluidity of some designs and the clean, sharp lines of others. Somehow, it just works. Everything here has been carefully curated, and the discerning creative eye is apparent in both the choice of fabric and technical design. That shift dress gets a fresh take with an eyelet detail running across. That denim top has strategically placed panels of fabric in the problem area of so many women (so you can eat all you want!). Each piece makes a statement but with subtle, quiet elegance.
And while not exactly affordable by Philippine standards (prices range from P4,000-P12,000), the clothes are investment pieces you will wear again and again and again. It’s a brand where comfort is key, longevity is a priority, and classic doesn’t need to mean boring. And did we mention that the clothes are incredibly easy to mix and match?
