From the burger station in Todd English Food Hall, Pound finds its own little space in BGC.
Let’s be honest. We’ll always be biased towards our favorite burger spots. One joint will have juicier patties, the other better buns—the comparisons will never end! So when the group behind foodie heavyweights Todd English Food Hall, Mesa, and Tim Ho Wan decided to come out with a fresh concept of concentrating on chicken burgers (though beef burgers are available as well), we couldn’t contain our curiosity and dropped all weekday plans to check out Pound by Todd English.
Entering this Prohibition era-inspired space, its open kitchen greets you on your left, while several tables are situated on your right. When you continue walking through the hallway, though, you’ll discover a wider space at the back that’ll easily accommodate more diners. The resto’s marble tables, dim lighting, and plush leather couches spell luxe sophistication!
Pound offers 4 kinds of sliders, the Pound Burger, salads, sides, and a lip-smacking dessert, the T.E. Sundae. We started our meal with the Tempura French Beans (not on the menu, but waiters will recommend it), which is ideal for those who want a healthier alternative to potato fries.
The Pound Burger (P999), meanwhile, is a deadly indulgence! Served with bone marrow, they suggested spreading it on the burger for the ultimate melding of flavors and the perfect recipe for a heart attack. Kidding aside, it really is quite as overwhelming as it looks and should definitely be shared with a friend!
The winner dish of our meal was the T.E. Crispy Chicken Sliders (P195) for many reasons: It was juicy and crunchy in all the right places, you could hear the crunch with every bite of the moist chicken. Its sauce wasn’t too sweet, in fact it had a hint of spice. While the coleslaw provided that tart flavor that balanced it all. Plus, easy for sharing, the sliders already come in pairs!
Yes, the posh interiors might seem intimidating, giving that impression of a pricey meal. But we didn’t end up spending much at all! If you skip on the Pound Burger and decide to just share a slider (or two), you’re in for a great deal! So head to Pound now, order their chicken sliders, and let me know if you’re still dreaming about it 2 days later.
